Why Thailand Is Popular for Health Check Ups

  1. More affordable: while extensive health check ups can cost up to $5-6k USD in the United States, health check ups in Bangkok are usually 50-80% cheaper than that. For most younger people, an extensive health check up can be as little as a few hundred dollars with all costs included (including doctor consultations to interpret the results)
  2. Finished in one day: health check ups in Thailand are very efficient and all the tests are schedule back-to-back on the same day, including the doctor walking you through the results before you leave the hospital. You arrive in the morning and the nurses guide you through each phase and test. You do not need separate appointments or referrals.
  3. Tailored packages: to make it easier for clients to choose the best health check up, hospitals offer tailored packages based on your age, gender and lifestyle. However, if there is something missing from the package, you can add-on any other tests that you like.
  4. Easy to combine with travel: because everything is done in a single day and easy to plan, many travelers choose to add a health check up to the beginning or the end of their holiday or business trip.

What Do They Test in Health Check Ups?

Health check-ups (sometimes called a health screening, annual physical, or wellness exam) is just a series of regular medical tests to assess your overall health and make sure you catch any health problems early, before they develop into a more serious health condition.

The specific tests that you do usually depend on your age, gender and risk factors but every check up will cover several areas with varying levels of detail.

Blood tests: Bloodwork is the foundation of any health check-up and will usually be the first phase of your screenings for the day to ensure the results are confirmed by the laboratory before you walk out of the hospital. In your blood tests they will measure things like blood sugar (diabetes screening), liver and kidney function, thyroid hormones, vitamins, minerals and hormones and complete blood count.

Imaging: Almost every package will start with a chest x-ray to check your lungs and heart size. More premium packages will also include an abdominal ultrasound to examine your liver, kidneys, gallbladder and pancreas. Some packages also include echocardiograms or CT scan for more detailed organ assessment.

Cardiac screening: Basic packages include an electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) which records your heart's electrical activity at rest. Higher packages will include an exercise stress test where your heart's performance is measured while walking on a treadmill to detect issues that only appear during exertion.

Physical examination: Check-ups are not just limited to testing, you will also consult with a preventative medicine doctor to discuss all your results, medical history, address any concerns and do any other physical examinations deemed necessary.

Gender-specific screening: If you compare packages, you will often find that there are packages for men and women. Even though most of the checks are the same regardless of gender, some examinations differ. For women, this often means doing a pap smear to check for cervical cancer, HPV testing or a mammogram or pelvic ultrasound. For men, it is usually focused on prostate cancer screening with a PSA test (prostate cancer marker) or a physical prostate exam.

Other: Thai hospitals are very flexible and can add-on any additional tests that you would like. From a full-body MRI scan or a colonoscopy, to a dental check or an eye or hearing test. Please let us know ahead of time and we can create tailored packages for you in collaboration with the hospital.

Hertitude Wellness at Aman Nai Lert Bangkok

Hertitude at Aman

Hertitude Wellness offers something completely different from a traditional hospital health check-up. Located on the 8th floor of Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, one of the city's most exclusive hotels, Hertitude is an independent medical provider that operates in partnership with the hotel, combining advanced diagnostics with the privacy and luxury of a five-star wellness experience.

Ultimate Blood Check Up

  • Male: 40,000 THB (~$1,287)
  • Female: 35,000 THB (~$1,126)

Hertitude's flagship screening is the Ultimate Blood Check Up, a single comprehensive blood draw that covers over 45 markers across every major system. It includes a complete blood count, blood typing, metabolic panel (glucose, insulin, HbA1c), full lipid profile, kidney function, liver function (ALT, AST, ALP, GGT, bilirubin), inflammation markers (CRP, homocysteine, D-dimer), adrenal hormones (DHEA, cortisol), full thyroid panel (TSH, Free T3, Free T4), growth hormones (IGF-1, IGF-BP3), sex hormones (FSH, LH, free testosterone, estrogen, progesterone), electrolytes, calcium, iron studies (TIBC, ferritin), vitamins B12 and D, and seven tumor markers covering digestive tract, breast, ovarian, lung, colorectal, liver, and prostate cancer.

This is significantly more comprehensive than the blood work included in most hospital check-up packages. For comparison, you'd need to book at least a Comprehensive-tier package at Bumrungrad (34,900 THB+) to get a comparable range of markers, and even then, Hertitude includes hormones and inflammation markers that hospitals typically reserve for their premium programs.

Advance Health Check Up (À La Carte)

Beyond the Ultimate Blood Check Up, Hertitude offers individual advanced diagnostics that go well beyond what traditional hospital screening centers include. These are à la carte tests you can add based on your specific health goals:

  • Micronutrient panel (vitamins A, C, E, CoQ10, Lycopene, Selenium, Zinc, Magnesium, B12, Folate, Ferritin, Vitamin D, and more): from 21,900 THB (~$704)
  • EDIM Cancer screening (APO-10 & TKTL-1 biomarkers for early cancer cell detection): from 14,900 THB (~$479)

  • Hepatitis Profile (Hepatitis A, B, and C antibody testing): from 5,900 THB (~$190)

  • Genetic test for health/lifestyle: from 32,000 THB (~$1,029) each
  • OligoScan (instant micronutrient and heavy metal analysis via palm scan, results in 5 minutes): from 6,000 THB (~$1,898)

What To Know Before Booking Your Check-Up

  • Check-up packages in Thailand include the full set of tests for that tier, a doctor consultation to review results, nursing care, and hospital service charges. Results are typically delivered the same day.
  • Package prices do not include medications if your doctor prescribes anything based on results, additional specialist referrals or follow-up appointments, add-on tests beyond the package scope (like colonoscopy or MRI), and travel/accommodation costs.
  • Many hospitals offer add-ons that you can bolt on to your base package. Common add-ons include exercise stress tests, bone density scans, additional cancer tumor markers, low-dose CT lung cancer screening, and genetic testing. Ask about add-on pricing when you book.
  • For women, schedule your screening at least 7 days before or after menstruation for the most accurate results.
  • Prices are subject to change; hospitals regularly update pricing or run promotions

Common Questions

How much does a health check-up cost in Thailand?

Arrow down

Health check-up packages in Thailand range from about $95 for a basic screening to $2,400 for a premium full-day program at a top hospital. The most popular comprehensive packages (suitable for adults 40+) cost $640 to $1,425. These prices are 50 to 80% less than comparable screenings in the US, UK, or Australia. Contact Konkai Health for a personalized quote based on your age and preferred hospital.

How long does a health check-up take?

Arrow down

Basic packages take 2 to 3 hours. Comprehensive screenings take 4 to 6 hours. Premium and holistic programs can take 6 to 8 hours. Most patients arrive between 7:00 and 8:00 AM and are done by lunch for standard packages. Results are typically reviewed with a doctor the same day.

Do I need to fast before a health check-up?

Arrow down

Yes. You should not eat or drink anything except plain water for at least 10 to 12 hours before your screening. This ensures accurate blood test results for glucose, cholesterol, and other markers. Most hospitals schedule morning appointments for this reason.

What's the difference between a basic and comprehensive health check-up?

Arrow down

A basic check-up covers essential blood work (CBC, glucose, cholesterol, liver and kidney function), a chest X-ray, and a doctor consultation. A comprehensive check-up adds cardiac screening (ECG, stress test), cancer markers (CEA, AFP, PSA), abdominal ultrasound, thyroid function, hepatitis screening, gender-specific tests (mammogram, Pap smear, prostate screening), and a more detailed consultation. The right level depends on your age, risk factors, and how long it's been since your last screening.

Which health check-up package is right for me?

Arrow down

As a general guide: if you're under 35 and healthy, a basic or executive package covers what you need. From 40 onward, a comprehensive package that includes cardiac screening and cancer markers becomes more valuable. If you have a family history of heart disease, cancer, or diabetes, consider starting comprehensive screenings earlier. For those interested in longevity and health optimization beyond disease screening, Hertitude at Aman offers advanced testing like epigenetic analysis, genetic risk panels, and micronutrient profiling. Not sure? Let us know your age, concerns, and budget, and we'll recommend the right fit.

Does my insurance cover Health check up in Thailand?

Arrow down

Whether medical insurance covers Health check up in Thailand or not depends on the individual policy. Some policies cover the procedure, while others may not. It's important to check with your insurance provider to find out if Health check up is covered and if there are any restrictions or limitations on coverage for medical procedures performed outside of your home country.

Hip Replacement & Health Check Up

Pam and Konkai Health were absolute rock stars in helping us find a fantastic surgeon for my boyfriend's hip replacement in Thailand. We had previously paid for a service to help us find a doctor and it was just throwing money away. The paid service was slow to respond and only offered us quotes for the most expensive hospitals.

Pam on the other hand was a completely free service and was always quick to reply, patient with all of our questions, and presented a variety of options in our price range. She made the entire process of finding a doctor, setting up video conferences, and scheduling the surgery extremely easy. She continued to help us even after the surgery had taken place with follow up visits and final questions we had before traveling back home. We cannot recommend her highly enough!!! We will definitely be using her again for our next surgical needs.

Hip Replacement

Many thanks to Konkai. After an online inquiry Konkai guided me to Praram9 orthopedic for a consultation on a hip injury.  I had the consultation, clearly a femeral head collapse and needing the hip joint replacement.  The beauty was in a half day full consultation, x-ray, ekg, blood work, chest exam ... everything needed to proceed with surgery was done.

This was so professionally and efficiently done, all questions answered, no consultants, no referrals etc., all in house, all guided around the hospital.  A friendly caring class act. So I then came back to Konkai to setup for the operation, with the same orthopedic team led by Dr. Peerapong that made the assessment.  I returned 2 weeks later, admitted, had the replacement operation stayed 5 days with the hospital team, and quite frankly, it was a privilege to be in their care.

Now after 10 days recovery in Bangkok i am ready to return home. Why Thailand, well in my country New Zealand, you get passed around to specialists, consultants, it all takes time, does not engender trust, and i think the profit motive is primary like the American system.  Further, there are less facilities so more waiting for slots. Thailand has a care culture, and the expertise and professionalism with Konkai and Praram9 is superb.  They have top quality facilities and capacity to fit your schedule.

If i ever need any major surgery, this will be my first stop.  Thanks again

Cosmetic Surgery

Outstanding. The most safe, amazing communication these past couple of months with Pam from Konkai health. I asked soooo many questions there must be around 80+ emails from me and every single one has been replied in full. Even now 2 weeks after surgery. Super professional, and the surgeon Dr Thawatchai Boonpadhanapong, at Yanhee Hospital that Pam recommended to me for a breast implant removal, were just incredible. No money deposits asked for…just pure care.

The service and systems at Yanhee were out the gate. I am so glad I travelled all that way and didn’t do it in New Zealand as I don’t think it would’ve been as good haha. I was so looked after by the amazing nurses, anaesthetist, Dr Thawatchai and my interpreter Mr Wing. It’s overwhelming looking for the right fit and if it wasn’t for Konkai Health and Pam I wouldn’t be feeling as happy as I am now 2 weeks after my surgery. I cannot thank you enough for what feels like a life transformation :)

Emergency operation and post-surgery checkup

"I live in New Zealand, and my partner and I went on a holiday in Laos (Asia). I became sick and needed an emergency stomach operation. I reached out to this company, and they have been nothing but helpful.

They helped us with translating in Laos; they organised a taxi driver who was waiting for us at arrival and drove us to the hospital, where they organised a scan for me. I only needed to show my passport and an email when I arrived. I was already in the system for the appointment.

Everything went really smoothly. The company is professional and reliable, and the staff is super friendly too. I would highly recommend this company. I am grateful for the great service this company offered when I was in need."

Konkai Health was always responding fast and helpful if I came up with questions. And the actual surgery had a good outcome also. Now I just ended my last check-up, and I am very delighted how everything went."

Was confused as to where to get good Medical Services in Thailand. This company was very responsive and helpful.

They directed me to a very reputable local Hospital where I was treated by a Doctor with great reviews.

Also, the cost for the procedure was very reasonable and a fraction of what it would cost me in the US.

I would highly recommend this company to others. 🙏♥️🙏

Liposuction

I came to Thailand from America for a liposuction in last week. In a Google search, back in May, I came across Konkai Health and decided to reach out to them. For my surgery Pam, recommended Rattinan Clinic out of Bangkok.  Pam was able to connect me with the clinic to set up a consultation.  The process was very easy.I recommend Konkai Health and Rattinan Clinic.  Both are 10/10
