Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to create smaller, lighter, more proportionate breasts. For many women, it also relieves chronic back pain, shoulder grooving, and skin irritation caused by heavy breasts.

Thailand has become a top destination for breast reduction surgery, with costs running 50-70% less than the US, UK, or Australia. Experienced, board-certified plastic surgeons at accredited hospitals perform thousands of these procedures each year for international patients.

This guide covers what breast reduction in Thailand costs at specific hospitals, the surgical techniques available, and how to plan your trip from start to finish.

What Is Breast Reduction Surgery?

Breast reduction, known medically as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to make your breasts smaller, lighter, and more proportionate to your body. The surgeon also reshapes the remaining tissue and repositions the nipple to create a natural-looking result.

Many women seek breast reduction because oversized breasts cause real physical problems: chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain, deep bra strap grooves, skin rashes underneath the breasts, and difficulty exercising or finding clothes that fit. If you've been dealing with these issues, breast reduction can be genuinely life-changing.

It's worth noting that breast reduction applies to natural breast tissue. If you've previously had breast augmentation and want to go smaller, that's a different procedure called breast implant removal.

What Affects the Final Price

The cost of breast reduction in Thailand varies depending on several factors:

  • Surgical technique used. A peri-areolar approach for mild cases costs less than a full inverted T-scar reduction for larger breasts.
  • Amount of tissue being removed. More extensive reductions take longer in the operating room and may require additional add-ons like nipple grafting.
  • Patient body weight. Some hospitals charge supplementary fees for patients over 70kg, as the procedure becomes more complex.
  • Combining procedures. Many patients choose to combine breast reduction with a breast lift or liposuction for a more complete result, which affects total cost.

Please note that the prices provided are estimations and may vary based on various factors. Additionally, these prices do not include flights or accommodation.

Surgical Techniques for Breast Reduction

Your surgeon will recommend a technique based on your breast size, how much tissue needs to be removed, and your skin elasticity. Here are the main approaches used at Thai hospitals.

  • Peri-areolar (Round Block) Technique. Best for mild reductions. The incision is made only around the areola, resulting in minimal scarring. This is the least invasive option but only works when a small amount of tissue needs to be removed.
  • Vertical (Lollipop) Technique. Suitable for moderate reductions. The surgeon makes an incision around the areola and a vertical line down to the breast crease, creating a keyhole or lollipop-shaped scar. This removes more tissue while keeping scarring relatively contained.
  • Inverted T (Anchor) Technique. Used for significant reductions. An additional horizontal incision runs along the breast fold, creating an anchor-shaped scar pattern. This gives the surgeon the most access to remove excess tissue and reshape the breast, making it the go-to option for patients with very large or heavy breasts.
  • Nipple Grafting. In cases where the nipple needs to be moved a significant distance (25cm or more), or when dealing with very large breasts, the nipple may be removed and repositioned as a graft. This is an add-on procedure and affects nipple sensation.

Your surgeon will discuss which technique is right for you during a virtual consultation before you travel.

Planning Your Trip to Thailand

A breast reduction trip to Thailand typically requires 10-14 days total. Here's what a typical timeline looks like.

Days 1-2: Arrival and Consultation. Arrive in Bangkok (or Phuket if you've chosen PPSI) and settle into your hotel or serviced apartment. You'll have an in-person consultation with your surgeon, who will examine you, discuss your goals, take measurements, and finalize the surgical plan. Pre-operative blood tests and any required health checks happen at this stage too.

Day 3: Surgery Day. The procedure takes around 2-5 hours depending on the technique and amount of reduction. You'll stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights afterward for monitoring and pain management.

Days 4-7: Initial Recovery. After discharge, you'll rest at your hotel. Expect swelling, bruising, and some discomfort. You'll wear a surgical support bra and avoid raising your arms above shoulder height. Most patients have their first follow-up appointment within this period.

Days 8-12: Follow-up and Light Activity. Swelling begins to subside. You may have drain removal and wound checks. Light walking is encouraged, and many patients feel well enough to enjoy gentle sightseeing, restaurants, or shopping malls. No heavy lifting or strenuous activity.

Days 13-14: Final Check and Departure. Your surgeon does a final check, provides post-operative care instructions for home, and clears you for your flight. You'll receive documentation for your doctor back home.

Combining procedures? Many patients pair breast reduction with a breast lift (the two go hand-in-hand in many cases) or other body contouring procedures. If you're considering this, let your surgeon know early so they can plan the timing and any additional recovery days you might need.

Common Questions

How much does breast reduction surgery cost in Thailand?

Arrow down

Breast reduction in Thailand typically costs between $2,600 and $5,000 USD, depending on the hospital, surgeon, and technique used. At Yanhee International Hospital, for example, a standard breast reduction is 136,000 THB ($4,250), while a milder peri-areolar approach starts at 83,000 THB ($2,600). This is significantly less than the $5,000-$12,000 you'd pay in the US.

Can I combine breast reduction with other aesthetic procedures in Thailand?

Arrow down

Yes, many patients opt to combine breast reduction with other procedures such as a breast lift, tummy tuck, or liposuction to enhance overall body contour. Discuss your goals with your surgeon to determine a safe and effective treatment plan tailored to your needs.

How long should I plan to stay in Thailand for breast reduction?

Arrow down

Plan for 10-14 days total. This includes your consultation, surgery, hospital stay (1-2 nights), and follow-up appointments. Most surgeons want to see you at least once or twice after the procedure before clearing you to fly home.

Which hospital is best for breast reduction in Thailand?

Arrow down

It depends on your priorities. Yanhee International Hospital is a strong choice if transparent pricing and high volume of breast procedures matter to you. Kamol Cosmetic Hospital excels in specialized cosmetic surgery. The Art Plastic Surgery Hospital offers boutique-style care with personalized treatment. And PPSI in Phuket is ideal if you want a beach-side recovery. Konkai can help you choose based on your specific needs and budget.

What's the difference between breast reduction and a breast lift?

Arrow down

Breast reduction removes tissue, fat, and skin to make your breasts smaller and lighter. A breast lift reshapes and raises sagging breasts without significantly reducing volume. In practice, many breast reduction procedures include a lifting component, and your surgeon may recommend combining both for the best result.

Is it safe to do Breast Reduction Surgery in Thailand?

Arrow down

Arrow down

It's important to check with your insurance provider to find out if Breast Reduction Surgery is covered and if there are any restrictions or limitations on coverage for medical procedures performed outside of your home country.

Some policies may require pre-authorization or pre-approval for medical procedures performed outside of your home country.

Hip Replacement & Health Check Up

Pam and Konkai Health were absolute rock stars in helping us find a fantastic surgeon for my boyfriend's hip replacement in Thailand. We had previously paid for a service to help us find a doctor and it was just throwing money away. The paid service was slow to respond and only offered us quotes for the most expensive hospitals.

Pam on the other hand was a completely free service and was always quick to reply, patient with all of our questions, and presented a variety of options in our price range. She made the entire process of finding a doctor, setting up video conferences, and scheduling the surgery extremely easy. She continued to help us even after the surgery had taken place with follow up visits and final questions we had before traveling back home. We cannot recommend her highly enough!!! We will definitely be using her again for our next surgical needs.

Hip Replacement

Many thanks to Konkai. After an online inquiry Konkai guided me to Praram9 orthopedic for a consultation on a hip injury.  I had the consultation, clearly a femeral head collapse and needing the hip joint replacement.  The beauty was in a half day full consultation, x-ray, ekg, blood work, chest exam ... everything needed to proceed with surgery was done.

This was so professionally and efficiently done, all questions answered, no consultants, no referrals etc., all in house, all guided around the hospital.  A friendly caring class act. So I then came back to Konkai to setup for the operation, with the same orthopedic team led by Dr. Peerapong that made the assessment.  I returned 2 weeks later, admitted, had the replacement operation stayed 5 days with the hospital team, and quite frankly, it was a privilege to be in their care.

Now after 10 days recovery in Bangkok i am ready to return home. Why Thailand, well in my country New Zealand, you get passed around to specialists, consultants, it all takes time, does not engender trust, and i think the profit motive is primary like the American system.  Further, there are less facilities so more waiting for slots. Thailand has a care culture, and the expertise and professionalism with Konkai and Praram9 is superb.  They have top quality facilities and capacity to fit your schedule.

If i ever need any major surgery, this will be my first stop.  Thanks again

Cosmetic Surgery

Outstanding. The most safe, amazing communication these past couple of months with Pam from Konkai health. I asked soooo many questions there must be around 80+ emails from me and every single one has been replied in full. Even now 2 weeks after surgery. Super professional, and the surgeon Dr Thawatchai Boonpadhanapong, at Yanhee Hospital that Pam recommended to me for a breast implant removal, were just incredible. No money deposits asked for…just pure care.

The service and systems at Yanhee were out the gate. I am so glad I travelled all that way and didn’t do it in New Zealand as I don’t think it would’ve been as good haha. I was so looked after by the amazing nurses, anaesthetist, Dr Thawatchai and my interpreter Mr Wing. It’s overwhelming looking for the right fit and if it wasn’t for Konkai Health and Pam I wouldn’t be feeling as happy as I am now 2 weeks after my surgery. I cannot thank you enough for what feels like a life transformation :)

Emergency operation and post-surgery checkup

"I live in New Zealand, and my partner and I went on a holiday in Laos (Asia). I became sick and needed an emergency stomach operation. I reached out to this company, and they have been nothing but helpful.

They helped us with translating in Laos; they organised a taxi driver who was waiting for us at arrival and drove us to the hospital, where they organised a scan for me. I only needed to show my passport and an email when I arrived. I was already in the system for the appointment.

Everything went really smoothly. The company is professional and reliable, and the staff is super friendly too. I would highly recommend this company. I am grateful for the great service this company offered when I was in need."

Was confused as to where to get good Medical Services in Thailand. This company was very responsive and helpful.

They directed me to a very reputable local Hospital where I was treated by a Doctor with great reviews.

Also, the cost for the procedure was very reasonable and a fraction of what it would cost me in the US.

I would highly recommend this company to others. 🙏♥️🙏
